CCLD Literacy Symposium

The Collaborative Center for Literacy Development (CCLD) is bringing two of the nation’s most renowned researchers in adult literacy to the annual Kentucky Literacy Research Symposium. For the first time ever, the symposium will have an adult literacy focus. The event is held May 14th and 15th at Spindletop Hall, Lexington KY. 

Victoria Purcell-Gates, PhD has published research and tools in adult literacy in National Center for the Study and Adult Literacy and Learning’s (NCSALL) Focus on the Basics, Reading Research Quarterly, the Journal of Literacy Research and more. She is past president of the National Reading Conference and is a member of the Reading Hall of Fame. She is currently Faculty of Education in the Department of Language and Literacy at the University of British Columbia. 

Larry J. Mikulecky, PhD has published research and tools in adult workplace literacy in Reading Research Quarterly, Journal of Literacy Research, the Journal of Adult and Adolescent Literacy and many more. He is currently professor at Indiana University’s College of Education and is Director of the Center for Innovative Assessment and Indiana College and Postsecondary Advancement Center.
