COABE Conference Reminder
REMINDER: Registration forms must be postmarked by January 15, 2009 in order to receive the MLK conference registration fee.
The annual Commission on Adult Basic Education (COABE) conference registration form is now available. The conference will be held in Louisville on April 18-22, 2009. Please visit the COABE Conference Web site for more information.
KYAE will provide funding for the Martin Luther King (MLK) registration fee of $270 for up to 500 Kentucky adult educators. Please select "MLK Conference Registration fee paid by KYAE" on the registration form. Registration forms must be postmarked by January 15, 2009. KYAE encourages those that wish to attend to take advantage of the reduced MLK registration fee. KYAE will consider on a case-by-case basis, programs using professional development funds to pay for registration fees after January 15. For those needing to request an exception, please contact Meryl Becker-Prezocki at Meryl.Becker-Prezocki@ky.gov.
You may use PD funds to cover travel and hotel accommodation expenses associated with the conference. PD funds can be used to cover pre-conference registration costs and registrant meal functions. For those registrants who are incurring overnight expenses to be paid with PD funds on Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18, attendees must be attending a full day pre-conference workshop or two half-day pre-conference sessions. KYAE funds, of any kind, shall NOT be used for membership fees. KYAE funds should also NOT be used for the entertainment fees associated with the museum tours on the registration form. This also includes the Mint Julep Tours.
Professional Development Credit: Conference attendees can earn one PDU for attending a pre-conference session and two PDUs for attending the conference. In order to receive your PDUs, you must register for the appropriate SDA in PDtrack (ABE_501_041809_KYAE-COABE 2009 Pre-Conference, Galt House, Louisville, KY and ABE _501_04182209_KYAE-COABE 2009 Conference, Galt House, Louisville, KY).
