NCFL needs data; stipend available
Help with research and earn a stipend!
The National Center for Family Literacy (NCFL) needs volunteers to help with a reading study funded by KYAE.
If you agree to send NCFL your students’ pre- and post-TABE reading scores and instructional hours in reading, NCFL will pay you $50. Eligible students are ABE/GED students (not ESL) enrolled in your program this year. If you participate, you will complete a minimal amount of paperwork on all students who are enrolled based on their reading scores. You must have (or expect to have) at least five such students for whom you could report these data. The stipend will be paid in the spring after NCFL receives the post-test scores.
If you participated last year (or are currently participating) in the NCFL project, “Scientifically Based Reading Instruction for Adults,” you are not eligible to take part in this data collection.
A limited number of stipends are available; teachers contacting NCFL early are most likely to be selected.
For more information or to apply to participate in the data collection, please contact Lisa Smith (lsmith@famlit.org) by January 22, 2007.
