KYAE New Framework and One-Stop Partners

Adult Education Colleagues,

I am writing to update you on conversations being held between KYAE and the Office of Employment and Training (OET) regarding the partnership between local Adult Education programs and One-Stop Centers under the New Framework for Adult Education.  Reecie Stagnolia, David Walters, and Jim Thompson met with Susan Craft, Director, OET Division of Workforce Services, and Elizabeth Hack, Administrative Coordinator, OET Office of Workforce Partnerships, to discuss the New Framework, identify points of change and impact and discuss some of the questions you have had about your partnership responsibilities with the One-Stops.  At a subsequent meeting with Andy Frauenhoffer, OET Executive Director, and Susan Craft, we discussed our common goals for workforce development and adult education to serve clients and eligible students to improve their skills.  We are in agreement that OET, WIA and KYAE desire and need to continue to collaborate and to provide needed local services to businesses, clients, and students.  We also agreed that the New Framework gives us the opportunity to examine our respective roles and missions and focus ourselves on each doing our part to accomplish this.

We are currently working on a common statement of collaboration that will be communicated to all KYAE, OET and WIA personnel via conference call or webinar as soon as possible, hopefully the week of June 25-29.  Until that time, please continue to partner with the One-Stops as you have been and serving clients and students in your community.
