TO: ProLiteracy Contacts, ProLiteracy America Regional Representatives, ProLiteracy America Governance Council, ProLiteracy Worldwide Board of Directors FROM: ProLiteracy America RE: $20,000 Grants Available for Publicly Funded ESL Programs
ProLiteracy America invites applications from publicly funded ESL programs to serve as pilot sites for a new project funded by The UPS Foundation. Pilots will work with ProLiteracy staff to develop the capacity to recruit and manage volunteers to help expand or improve services to lower-level ESL students. Applicants should be programs that deliver services through classes taught by paid instructors, do not currently involve volunteers, receive most of their funding from federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA) and state adult education grants, and use the National Reporting System (NRS) to measure outcomes. Other criteria are listed in the RFP.
Each of the three pilots chosen will receive $20,000 over the course of the project which runs from October 2006 through March 2008. The application deadline is September 21, 2006.
If your program does not meet the criteria, please feel free to forward this e-mail to other programs that might be interested.
The RFP and the application forms are attached as Word documents and pdf files. The application is also attached as an interactive fill-in form.
